The route is mostly on paved bike and agricultural roads, as well as side streets and through-roads with little traffic. Some sections are on gravel. Transfer over the Fern Pass (Biberwier - Fernsteinsee) Ascent of approx. 700 meters of altitude between Pfunds and the Reschen Pass, from the Reschensee to Meran there are some longer downhill sections.

Day 1: Augsburg

Day 2: Augsburg – Schongau region, approx. 85 km
The name of the city of Augsburg goes back to the Roman provincial capital Augusta Vindelicorum, which was founded in 15 BC under Emperor Augustus. However, Augsburg became famous as the ‘Fugger city’. A visit to the Fuggerei, the oldest social housing in the world still in use today, is almost obligatory. On the way to Schongau, you should definitely pay a visit to the district town of Landsberg am Lech. This town really has charm. Schongau itself boasts a picturesque old town and an almost completely preserved city wall.

Day 3: Schongau region – Reutte nature park region, approx. 55 km
From Schongau, the route continues along the Lech towards Tyrol and thus towards the mighty Alpine arc. Even before the Austrian border, the “fairytale castle” of Neuschwanstein awaits visitors near Füssen.

Day 4: Reutte Nature Park Region – Landeck, approx. 65 km (without transfer approx. 75 km)
Shortly after Reutte, there is an ascent up to the Ehrenberger Klause with a remarkable fortress from the Thirty Years’ War. From Biberwier, you can take the rather demanding route over the Fernpass with the Via Claudia Huckepack bus. From Fernstein Castle, you then cycle via Nassereith through the picturesque Gurgltal. A “beery” experience awaits you in Tarrenz at Starkenberg Castle with its traditional private brewery. From Imst, you finally cycle along the Inn Cycle Path to the district capital Landeck.

Day 5: Landeck – Lake Reschensee holiday region & Upper Vinschgau, approx. 85 km
The cycle path runs alongside the Inn from Landeck to Pfunds. After Pfunds, the route passes through Swiss territory for about 10 kilometers. From Martina in the Lower Engadine, there are about 400 meters of altitude to cycle along a few switchbacks up to the Norbertshöhe. After a short downhill stretch to Nauders, a gentle ascent leads up to the Reschenpass, where you cross the border into Italy and the main Alpine ridge. Passing the Reschen reservoir, with one of South Tyrol’s most famous photo motifs – the sunken church tower of Altgraun – you cycle rapidly down towards Mals. Enjoy your first evening in South Tyrol in the old alleys of the town.

Day 6: Lake Reschensee holiday region & Upper Vinschgau – Meran, approx. 65 km
Now it is time to cross the entire Vinschgau. The route leads from around 1,200 m above sea level in Burgeis down to 350 m above sea level in Meran. Often you will follow the course of the Adige River. From the starting point, this pleasure tour first leads down to Glurns, the smallest town in the Alpine region. Via the marble village of Laas, you will then reach Naturns and finally - past the striking Kastelbell Castle - the spa town of Meran. Here you can relax on an evening stroll along the Passer promenades, surrounded by subtropical flora.

Day 7: Meran – Bolzano via Kalterer See, approx. 70 km
There are many attractions along this route: the famous Schnatterpeck altar in the church of Niederlana, the highest church tower in South Tyrol in Terlan, as well as numerous castles and ruins on both sides of the valley. The ripe and finely processed fruits of the vineyards along the South Tyrolean Wine Route are a real treat for the taste buds. Enjoy a glass of fine wine at Lake Kaltern or at one of the two wild and romantic Montiggler Lakes, or at the end of your trip at the vibrant Waltherplatz in the center of Bolzano.

Day 7: Merano – Salurn/Mezzocorona, approx. 65-75 km
Whether it’s the Sarntal Alps, the Dolomites, or the Mendel Ridge that set the direction for the Adige Valley, the cycle path winds its way through the lush South Tyrolean lowlands, following the Adige River, slipping through the historically significant Salurn Pass, and continuing into the Trentino valley basin. The unspoiled villages in this northern Italian wine region invite you to end your day’s cycling in a relaxed atmosphere.

Day 8: Salurn/Mezzocorona – Northern Lake Garda, approx. 75 km
The route continues downstream along the Adige until the Doss Trento pushes its rocky flanks into the river. The old town of Trento at its feet, with its interesting and historically significant monuments, as well as the small town of Rovereto further south, where modern architecture successfully bridges the gap to Venetian history, provide nature-loving cyclists with a taste of culture. At Mori, you leave the Adige Valley and, after a slight climb to the Passo San Giovanni (287 m), you roll downhill through picturesque surroundings to your stage destination on the shore of the deep mountain lake.

Day 9: Northern Lake Garda – Verona, approx. 80 km
A short climb takes you back up into the Vallagarina. Continuing south, the Adige Valley becomes increasingly charming. Although the flanks of the Lessini Mountains move closer again and narrow the traffic routes in the Adige Valley, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Valpolicella wine hills north of Verona from the hilltop. You roll energetically along the Adige canals into the much-vaunted and music-loving city of Verona.
