This sporty 5-day cycling tour starts in Villach, where the rivers Drava and Gail meet. It takes you through the diverse region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, which offers not only a varied landscape but also a rich cultural diversity. The cuisine reflects this cultural mix, with influences from the Alps, Austria, Slovenia and Venice. Leaving the Carnic Alps in the background, you cycle towards the sea on the southern side of the Alps and enjoy the vast Adriatic coast with its endless sandy beaches. Your cycling tour finally ends in Grado, a picturesque coastal town perfect for relaxation and recreation.
Route
Individuall arrival in Villach.
Following the Gail River, you leave Villach behind and soon say goodbye to Austria and welcome to Italy. The Canal Valley stretches across the border triangle of Italy, Austria, and Slovenia, with the Italian border town of Tarvisio at its center. Austrians, Slovenians, Friulians, and Italians have lived here together for centuries, and all three major European language families – Germanic, Romance, and Slavic – meet here.
Cycle through the canal valley and enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Friulian Alps with its unspoiled nature and extensive forests. Gemona del Friuli, a historic town at the southern end of the valley and the foothills of the Julian Alps, impresses with its majestic Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. This stage leads through vineyards and offers the opportunity to taste local wines. Udine, marked by Venetian influence, is ideal for a relaxing coffee in the piazza or a stroll through the city.
Accompanied by the breeze of the Scirocco, you will glide past reed landscapes and water channels and reach Grado, a historic fishing town and one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Adriatic.

Arrival by car
Parking: Depending on the first hotel unattended parking facilities are available, either directly at your hotel or nearby (for the first night). Public parking garage at the cost of approx. € 40 per week Reservation of the parking area/parking garage not possible; payable on the spot.
Alternatively you can find an unattanded parking lot near the centre.
Villach is easily accessible on the motorways A2, A10 or A11 (depending on the point of origin).

Transfer
Return transfer possible every MON, THU, FRI, SAT + SUN with the shuttle bus. Reservation required, payment upon booking. Prices see under "Dates and Prices"
