The signposted and asphalted bikepaths are flat to slightly hilly along rivers, with longer inclines in the "Schilcherland" and the south styrian "Weinstraße". For this tour, we do recommend an e-bike.

Archduke Johann is still admired as a great styrian. Visit the palace with its hunting museum and the wine house in Stainz. In 1229 there already existed a church which was extended to an impressive monastery. In 1840 it was owned by the archduke Johann and is still in the hands of his descendants, the earls of Meran. A very special experience is a ride with the "Flascherlzug" - a very old local train to Preding and back (not included).

Today, the tour will bring you directly into the heart of the "Schilcherweinland". Schilcher - thats a distinct Rosé made from indigenous "Blauer Wildbacher" grape. A varied tour through idyllic villages and small forests until you reach Eibswald.

After a short detour to Eibiswald you continue the tour to the eastbound - through the picturesque scenery and small villages. The unique vineyards of the famous "South Styrian wine route" accompany you on your way to Leutschach, where you will have the 2 following overnights stays.

Today you cycle a short distance along the border until you cross into Slovenia. Along the Drava cycle path you reach the beautiful town of Maribor. Take a look at the oldest vine in the world and stroll through the picturesque old town.

Through picturesque landscapes and small villages, you return to Austria to the wine town of Leibnitz. Leibnitz with its beautiful old town is considered the gateway to the South Styrian Wine Route.

You can take it easy as you cycle back to Graz along the Mur Cycle Path, passing colorful villages, through shady riparian forests and past lush fields. If your legs are already tired, this route can also be covered by train.
