Inn Cycle Path to Salzburg

Innsbruck - Salzburg

Itinerary

Route

You follow the natural course of the Inn, the area is flat, some hills, you need to be in good physical shape.

Individual arrival in Innsbruck, rental bikes and travel documents will be provided at the hotel. Maybe you have time left for a stroll through the city? The famous Golden Roof and the mountain panorama of the Nordkette are just a fraction of the beauty Innsbruck has to offer.

You’ll leave Innsbruck on flat paths along the Inn Cycle Route and follow the river through the vast Tyrolean Inn Valley. In Hall in Tirol, Baroque architecture shines, and in Wattens, the Swarovski Crystal Worlds sparkle. Your destination is Strass, at the entrance to the famous Zillertal. The mountains are close enough to touch, yet you’ll always be cycling leisurely through the valley, accompanied by the glistening Inn River and the scent of fresh hay.

In the morning, you’ll ride through the Inn Valley to Wörgl, where you’ll take a leisurely train ride to Westendorf, right into the heart of the lush Brixental Valley. There, you’ll hop back on your bike and ride through Kirchberg, past the idyllic Schwarzsee, and into the glamorous town of Kitzbühel, where Alpine charm meets celebrity glamour. Via Oberndorf, you’ll reach St. Johann in Tirol, picturesquely situated at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser.

Today you’ll cycle through the peaceful Leukental valley, passing through Kirchdorf, Erpfendorf, and sunny Waidring on your way to the charming town of Lofer in the Pinzgau region. The peaks of the Loferer Steinberge rise up on either side, yet your route remains pleasantly flat, accompanied by clear water and the characteristic sound of cowbells. A piece of cheese, a cup of coffee, and the view to go with it: a true delight in every way.

A final day of cycling filled with nature and culture: You’ll follow the Saalach River, past cliffs and meadows, all the way to Bad Reichenhall in Bavaria with its sophisticated spa town atmosphere. Shortly afterward, you’ll return to Austrian soil and arrive in the country’s most musical city: Salzburg. Whether it’s Mozart, the fortress, or the Old Town – a wealth of culture awaits within a small area.

Individual departure or extension of your stay. Optional train ride back to Innsbruck.
